Project Overview

This project is a fully custom-built Restaurant Ordering & Delivery Management System designed from scratch to streamline the entire food ordering workflow. It includes a customer-facing web application, a complete admin dashboard, a dedicated rider panel, manual order assignment, menu management, order tracking, notifications, and a full Cash on Delivery payment flow.

Built using modern technologies like React (Vite) for the frontend and Laravel + MySQL for the backend, this system delivers high performance, smooth user experience, and a scalable architecture capable of supporting restaurants of any size.

Key Modules Developed

1. Customer Web App (Mobile Responsive)

A clean, fast, and mobile-first interface built with Bootstrap/Tailwind to ensure that customers can browse products, add items to their cart, and place orders from any device.

• Fully responsive UI (mobile, tablet, desktop)
• Navigation: Home, Menu, Cart, My Orders, Login/Signup, Contact
• Product listing with images, descriptions, and pricing
• Optional filters, sorting, and categories
• “Add to Cart” with live cart updates

2. Customer Authentication & Profile

A secure login and registration system with encrypted passwords and session-based authentication.

• Register with name, email, phone number
• Secure login system (email + password)
• Forgot password (optional for MVP)
• Profile update page

3. Menu / Product Management

Customers can browse menu items through a clean, card-based layout.

• Product cards with name, price, and thumbnail
• Video support for product previews
• Category-based listing (e.g., Burgers, Drinks)
• “Out of stock” status handling

4. Cart, Checkout & Order Placement

A complete eCommerce flow for building an order and placing it securely.

• Add/remove items, update quantities
• Cart total calculation with tax
• Checkout with auto-filled user details
• Delivery address + phone collection
• Payment Method: Cash on Delivery
• Unique order ID generation
• Email confirmation for order placement

5. Cash on Delivery Workflow

Since the MVP does not include online payments, an optimized COD flow is implemented.

• Payment type stored as COD
• Order marked as “Pending Payment”
• Rider will confirm payment during delivery

Admin Dashboard

A complete control panel for the restaurant or business owner to manage all operations.

6. Product Management (CRUD)

• Add, update, delete products
• Upload images/videos
• Activate/Deactivate products

7. Order Management

Admins can manage the entire order lifecycle from a single dashboard.

• View all incoming orders
• Order details: customer info, items, total, payment type
• Change status: Pending → Accepted → Assigned → Completed
• Manual cancellation or refund handling

8. Rider Assignment System

Orders can be assigned to specific riders for delivery.

• List of available riders
• Assign via dropdown
• Rider receives email notification
• Order status automatically updates

Rider Panel

A separate lightweight web interface designed for delivery riders.

• Secure login for riders
• Dashboard showing assigned orders
• Access to customer address & contact details
• Update order status: Accepted → Picked → Delivered
• Automatic timestamp recording
• Daily delivery summary

Email Notification System

The platform includes automated email alerts to keep everyone informed.

• Customer receives “Order Placed” email
• Admin receives “New Order Received” alert
• Rider receives “Order Assigned” notification

Delivery ETA 

A simple but effective ETA system that displays expected delivery time on the order confirmation page.

• Stored in database
• Displayed in My Orders page

Conclusion

This project highlights my strong experience in building custom, end-to-end ordering platforms with customer modules, admin dashboards, rider systems, and real-time workflow management. From UI/UX planning to backend architecture, I handled the complete development process to deliver a robust, scalable, and user-friendly solution for restaurants and delivery-based businesses.
